At House of Talent by Rockschool we offer songwriting lessons in the Leiden region for everyone who wants to start making their own music. Writing a good song is a craft in itself. Our teachers help you structure your creativity and give you the tools you need to turn a small idea into a full track. Whether you love pop, rock, indie or hip hop: we work on the music you want to make.
What do you learn during the songwriting lesson?
At House of Talent by Rockschool we take a practical approach. No dry theory, but straight to work with your ideas. In the lessons we pay attention to:
- Structure and form: how do you build a song logically with an intro, verse, chorus and bridge?
- Lyric writing: how do you tell a story and make sure your words match the emotion of the music?
- Melody and harmony: coming up with catchy lines and the right chords that strengthen your song.
- Arranging: which instruments suit your song and how do you create a dynamic build-up?

We teach young people taking their first steps as songwriters, but also adults who want to take their compositions to a higher level or finally finish that one song. You do not need to be an accomplished musician; a good idea and the enthusiasm to make something are the most important start.
